What We Believe
God
God is the creator and ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three personalities; Father, Son and Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God. God is an intelligent, personal and spiritual being. He is completely holy and perfect in every way. He desires and deserves glory and worship.
Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ, the son of God, is co-equal with the Father. He lived a sinless life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all men by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead, proving his power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven where He intercedes on behalf of all believers. He will one day return to earth to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God. He causes people to be aware of their sin and need for Jesus Christ. He lives in every believer from the moment of salvation. He is a companion, friend and encourager to the believer. He gives spiritual gifts to each believer.
People
People were made in the image of God and are the supreme object of God’s creation. They was made to have fellowship with God, but chose to sin against God, thus causing a separation with God. All people are born with a nature to sin, and are separated from God.
Salvation
Salvation is a gift from God to people. It comes to a person “by grace through faith.” Salvation comes when a person is willing to repent of sin and receive Jesus as Lord and Savior by faith. Eternal life is given at the moment of salvation.
Bible
The Bible is God’s Word to all people. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the absolute source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. It is completely without error and is trustworthy.
Church
The church is a group of believers who have assembled together to carry out God’s mission and purpose. The New Testament speaks of the church as the body of Christ. Christ is the head of the church and is its source of life.
Evangelism
Every believer is called to join in the great task of sharing the good news of salvation with others. We have been given a mandate to share about Jesus with people of every ethnic group and nation.
Worship
Worship is the proper response of a grateful people to a holy and loving God. Worship does not happen only in the context of a planned, weekly event. It is the continual response of obedience to God as we submit ourselves to His Lordship in every area of our lives.
Baptism
Baptism is the immersion of a believer in water as a testimony of that salvation. It is a picture of death, burial and resurrection. It is an outward sign of an inward change.
Lord’s Supper
The Lord’s Supper is a symbolic act of obedience which involves the eating of bread and drinking of juice. The bread represents the broken body of Christ. The juice represents the blood of Christ. We share the Lord’s Supper in order to remember the sacrificial death of Christ.
Giving
The New Testament teaches that everything is owned by God. We are simply stewards of what God has entrusted to us. As stewards we are expected to give to Kingdom work cheerfully, generously, proportionately, and consistently. We believe the primary way to invest in God’s Kingdom work is by giving to the local church. Though tithing is not a legal requirement for believers, it remains a great plan for giving.
