Straight Talk, Just the Facts

Fact One:
God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life.

The Bible says . . .

"For God so loved the world (all people) that He gave His only begotten son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life."  John 3:16

"I came that they might have life, and might have it abundantly."  John 10:10

"For I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope."  Jeremiah 29:11

Most people are not experiencing God's wonderful plan because of the second fact.

Fact Two:
Sinfulness has separated us from God, causing us to miss that wonderful plan.

The Bible says . . .

"For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God."  Romans 3:23

"For the wages of sin is death but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."  Romans 6:23

"But your iniquities (sins) have made a separation between you and your God."  Isaiah 59:2

The third fact tells us what God has done to end this separation.

Fact Three:
Jesus, God's son, died so that our sins could be forgiven and the separation brought to an end.

The Bible says . . .

"For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God." 1 Peter 3:18

"But God demonstrates his own love toward us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."  Romans 5:8

"For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Jesus Christ."
1 Timothy 2:5

God has provided the only way.  Each person must make a choice.

Fact Four:
Our sins are forgiven and we begin a permanent relationship with God when we put our trust in Jesus.

The Bible says . . .

"If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead you shall be saved."  Romans 10:9-10

"He who believes in the Son (Jesus) has eternal life."  John 3:36

"Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you shall be saved."  Acts 16:31

To have a relationship with God, have your sins forgiven and receive God's gift of eternal life you must have saving faith.

This is not simply believing the historical facts about Jesus.

It is not even simply trusting God to meet your needs.

Saving faith is trusting Jesus Christ alone for your salvation.  It means you are depending only on Him to forgive your sins and to make you right with God.

Now, the big question . . . How do I put my faith in Jesus?

How do I put my faith in Jesus?

  • Admit to God that you are a sinner.

  • Be willing to repent (turn away from ) your sins.

  • Confess to God that you believe Jesus died for your sins and was resurrected.

  • Yield your life to Jesus as your Lord.

You can pray a prayer similar to this:

Lord Jesus, I confess that I am a sinner and I do not deserve to go to Heaven.  I believe you died for me and arose again from the dead.  Please forgive me for my sins.  I repent of my sinfulness and choose to live for you.  I am trusting you now for my salvation and I accept your gift of eternal life.  Thank you for saving me.
In Jesus name.
Amen.
